Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi has confirmed that the Italian outfit may be left with no other choice but to sell Andre Onana this summer.

Manchester United are desperate to sign a new goalkeeper to replace David de Gea after the Spaniard’s recent exit. In turn, Onana is their primary target and Thursday is believed to be an important day for negotiations.

Fans will be hoping to see a breakthrough in talks to bring Onana to Old Trafford. Tom Heaton started in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Leeds as pre-season began in Oslo, while Dean Henderson remained in Manchester.

Inzaghi appears to be warming up to the idea of losing Onana. He accepts that all Italian clubs have to sell players before they can make additions to their squad. It’s no different at Inter.

“He’s an Inter player, tomorrow [Thursday] he’ll be among the players called up for pre-season,” Inzaghi said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“We know the transfer window is unpredictable and that all Italian clubs have to sell before they can buy. We know there’s this risk [that he leaves] but at the same time, I’m calm about it all because the club and the owners have reassured me that this year we’ll have a competitive Inter.”

Inter didn’t win the Serie A last season, but they did manage to reach the Champions League final — only to lose against Man City.

Losing a player like Onana will make it more difficult to Inzaghi to improve his time from last season, but we don’t need to worry about that when such a signing would help improve United.
