Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray Receives Critical Take On Current Contract
Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals are gearing up for the 2024 NFL season with big hopes of taking a huge step forward from where they have been stuck for a few years. Kyler Murray will be a huge piece of the puzzle. If he can get back to being a legitimate star franchise quarterback, the Cardinals could be a competitive football team.

On the other hand, if Murray is unable to stay healthy and his production remains inconsistent, there is a chance that the Cardinals will be forced to consider moving on from him and finding a new franchise quarterback.

With all of that being said, there is a lot riding on the 2024 season for both the Arizona Cardinals and Murray. They went out and drafted Marvin Harrison Jr. with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to give Murray a legitimate No. 1 option. The offense is expected to take a big step forward this year.

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray Receives Critical Take On Contract

Bleacher Report recently unveiled a critical take about Murray’s contract and called the Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback “overpaid.”

“Murray is an incredible talent, but it’s possible he peaked in 2021, as he has limped through much of the last two seasons. The 26-year-old is being paid on a trajectory that is starting to drop off.”

During the 2023 season with the Cardinals, Murray was able to return to the field and play eight games. He completed 65.7 percent of his pass attempts for 1,799 yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Murray also picked up 244 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Needless to say, those numbers gave the Arizona Cardinals some reason for hope. Being able to come back from a torn ACL and make such an impact was a very positive sign.

At just 26 years old, Murray still has time to get his career back on track. Just a couple of short years ago, he was viewed as one of the top rising stars at the quarterback position. There is no question that he could still get back to playing at that level.

Health has been his biggest issue, but he has also been forced to play with a weak supporting cast for most of his career. The Cardinals’ front office has not done a great job of getting talent to surrounding him with. Hopefully, that has changed.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the 2024 season has in store for the Arizona Cardinals and Kyler Murray. Perhaps, we’ll finally see him get back to playing like a true franchise quarterback.
