Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic Gets Praised as Face of the NBA After Incredible 2023-24 Season
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

It’s hard to imagine the Denver Nuggets without Nikola Jokic these days. The big Serbian is the biggest reason the team won their first NBA title. He’s also a huge factor to the Nuggets’ 3-2 standing against the Minnesota Timberwolves despite starting the series two games down.

While it’s clear to everyone that Jokic is the face of the Nuggets, not everyone thinks that Jokic is as good as everyone hypes him up to be. A legend like Shaq even came forward with a direct statement that the Joker shouldn’t have won this year’s MVP honors.

While fans clowned O’Neal for his claims, it cannot be denied that Jokic still isn’t rated highly among NBA fans. However, things may change as an analyst decided that the Serb is the most influential player in the league right now.

Chiney Ogwumike claims Denver Nuggets’ Jokic is the face of the league

The hosts of Get Up discussed the most recent match between the Nuggets and the Timberwolves, where the defending champions were able to put on a show against Anthony Edwards and company.

Chiney Ogwumike was especially generous with her praise on Jokic, recalling Edwards’ statement earlier in the season that the Joker is the actual face of the league:

She raved about the Nuggets’ effectiveness under Jokic, saying that the optics doesn’t justify how dominant Jokic has been on the court.

“He may not jump as high as people like, or he may not do the sexiest things on the court. But let me tell you: this man is a problem!” Ogwumike explained.

Chiney also elaborated on how unstoppable the Denver Nuggets has been when they’re having Jokic facilitate the game. She even gave specifics:

“When they’re setting inverted screens for Nikola Jokic in the first quarter to get him downhill with Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert to navigate that. And they turn around and do the Hailey Van Lith? Man, there’s nothing I can do here!

“They said, ‘You know what? We’ll play with you because our guy is so skilled. We’re gonna play outside in. And when you couldn’t guard him outside in, they brought him on the inside out.'”

Nikola Jokic has been unstoppable for the Nuggets throughout the series, averaging 29.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, 9.2 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.2 blocks a game.

Unless , Edwards, Rudy Gobert , and the rest of the Minnesota Timberwolves find a way to stop the Joker, the series will end in six games.
