Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta has continued to dominate on the mound and that was evident once again on Friday night against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Over his last seven starts, Peralta has pitched 42 innings, posted a 1.71 ERA and struck out 69 batters. His 69 strikeouts sets a new franchise record for the most punch-outs over a seven-game span.
In 2021 eventual Cy Young award winner Corbin Burnes struck out 68 batters over a stretch of seven games. During this same amount of time, Peralta has fanned 69 batters while also lowering his ERA from 4.72 to 3.85.
Outside of these last seven starts, Peralta has managed to accumulate at least five strikeouts in each of his last 15 starts. Additionally, he now has six double-digit strikeout games this season. It appears that Peralta is peaking at the right time and hopefully he can continue to keep the momentum.
His next start is scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In two starts against the Pirates this year, he has 17 strikeouts.
